Building on the Past Gusty Gulas, The Gusty Gulas Group, eXp Realty

As the number one real estate team for eXp Realty Birmingham, The Gusty Gulas Group is always on the lookout for a special piece of property. So when Gusty himself found a unique building in the Lakeview District, he immediately could see its potential as an office space. “We bought the property from St. Vincent’s Hospital and it was clear from the start it was going to be a complete gut job,” he says. “We spent time with architects and contractors to determine the best use for the space.” 

Ultimately Gusty kept the shell of the 1920s-era building and took the inside down to the studs, requiring a renovation loan. “I had previously done an SBA loan, so when I was investigating my options, I was referred to Sam Renta at Alliance Capital Corporation,” he says. “I immediately knew that Sam would work well with my staff, so we felt good about moving forward.” 

Not only did Sam navigate Gusty and his staff through the loan process, but through a last-minute lender change that could have been difficult. “Sam did a great job telling us what we needed and made it as easy as it could be,” he says. “Sam’s knowledge guided us every step of the way. He’s just a pleasure to work with.” 

Now that the renovation is behind him, Gusty has been enjoying his new sleek, modern space. Part of the process included installing glass garage doors on the front of the building to open it up for office functions such as client appreciation events. “I personally get more done at the office and love coming to our new space,” Gusty explains. “The building is a good representation of our brand and what we are trying to sell.”
